In 2022, VPLP Design, MerConcept and Alwena Shipping jointly developed a 24-meter-long foil CTV concept dedicated to the transport of personnel for the maintenance of offshore wind turbines.
This study commissioned by EDF Renewable aimed to decarbonize the world of CTV while offering substantial comfort to technicians.
This CTV is able to speed up to 35 knots at cruising speed, thanks to the use of foils. It offers consumption that can be reduced by up to 40% compared to conventional hulls, while reaching speeds that compete with helicopters or other rapid means.
The desire to use hydrogen as a means of energy on board has been transformed by the use of green methanol combined with batteries in order to guarantee a ship with 0 CO2 emissions.
