In this partnership, LDA will identify, develop, and pursue selected logistics solutions operated by wind assisted/propelled pure container ships designed and developed by VPLP and Alwena.

On a typical transatlantic voyage, we can expect to save on average 35% CO2-equivalent emissions compared to a conventional design, with a 2-stroke engine, single shaft and without wingsails, at the same speed. This concept sets the pathway for what could be the low emissions container vessels of the near future.

Purchased last year by our customer Société de Navigation Polynésienne – SNP in Norway, the vessel has been drydocked few weeks in Damen Harlingen, December – February and thereafter sailed to Tahiti directly, via Panama canal.
Voyage management and crew was arranged smoothly by Redwise Maritime Services BV , together with few SNP seafarers.
Project managed by our François-Xavier LOUIS, with support from the Marseille team and SNP consultant Joep Koster.

Experts from DNV and other business leaders had an insightful exchange on how industry stakeholders can navigate the technological, regulatory and business drivers surrounding the barriers of decarbonisation and digitalisation.

We are pleased that our client Tutehau Martin – SNP – Societe de Navigation Polynésienne ( https://www.facebook.com/snp.pf ) inked an order by 4th of March 2022 at Royal Bodewes Shipyard (https://www.royalbodewes.com/) for a new 90m long Roro vessel « Hawaikinui 2 ».


When delivered by end 2024, she will take over the duties of the current old lady « Hawaikinui » in French Polynesia Leeward Islands.
It’s been a 3 years project, delayed due to covid, and the time has allowed fine tuning of the technical specifications with SNP Technical teams and proper tender invitations to several shipyards.An interesting project with an important milestone now achieved, with Ludovic Gerard, Thibault Vinet , Vatea Sitjar (Alwena Shipping ) and Joep Koster (https://soelyachts.com/ )

Looking forward to the construction and naming ceremony in Papeete !
